4th TASK 9th GRADE

Read the beginning of a horror story and then use your imagination to write the ending. Be as creative as possible and write at least 12 more lines. To make it a little bit challenging, my dearest students, you HAVE TO use the following words:

knife – chimpanzees – neighbor – flashlight – a red dress

After finishing your story post a picture to illustrate it and give it a title!

DEADLINE: August 27th

I perfectly remember that cold winter night. It was January 13th ,1860, the same day that Paul and I had just got married. We were deeply in love with each other and had decided to spend our honeymoon somewhere remote from the city and the people we knew. We were invited to the luxurious mansion that his uncle, Lord James, had in the country, and we accepted as we did not have any other better choice.

After leaving the train station, we had to walk for a long time among the woods that led directly to the house. I will never forget the thick mist of that scary silent night, when we were able to perceive the most insignificant sounds of Nature. As I was very frightened, I asked my dear Paul to put his arm around me. Suddenly, we saw a dim light far in the distance that seemed to come from the mansion we were looking for. We sighed and smiled at each other because we felt relieved. However, it was a short-lived feeling since as we were approaching the dwelling, we found a cemetery just in front of the house. Paul tried to comfort me but I did not like the idea of sharing the place for our honeymoon with the dead ancestors of my husband. As we were passing by all those graves, it started to rain heavily and I could see how a rusty cross was beginning to lean forward and backward as though somebody were pushing it from below. That sight made my hair stand on end but Paul tried to convince me that it was only the blowing wind.

We arrived at the house at last and Lord James welcomed us with open arms. He was standing at the hall with Joan, his new wife, and Veronica, his stepdaughter. They were really kind to us but there was something in the way Veronica looked at Paul that made me feel terrified. She was a short blond girl whose eyes seemed to be hiding something...

WELCOME BACK, DEAR STUDENTS!

Welcome back, students!

This semester started off with a bang, and I’m nervous yet excited to go on with our project (the blogs). After a very tiring semester, I thought I would have some time to rest and feel fresh and new after holiday. However, as August got closer and closer, I realized I still had a lot of tests to finish and lots of texts to read – much work! So, I’m not completely refreshed!!!

Luckily, I know most of you ( my students) well because I have been with you for some years. And I think we have built trusting and comfortable relationships and we are all eager to grow and learn during the rest of the school year.

Do our best!

Count on me whenever you need!

Hi people!
I m glad to see that you are all involved with our poject!
Here it is the new task.
Hope you enjoy it!!!

2nd TASK - World Cup

Brazil play Chile today!!!

As we know, today is the big one. Brazil must win to continue in the World Cup. The team is under a lot of pressure. Some fans have been strict. Some of the players are feeling not confident or dispirited.

Imagine you are either Dunga, the coach, or Lucio, the captain.

You are in the dressing room ten minutes before going out onto the pitch.

Your exercise today is to write a speech to stir the players to victory in no more than 150 words. Make sure you use powerful words to encourage the players and give them their confidence back.

Bye for now!!!

Is it a call?

As teachers, we want to inspire our students to want to do well and to know more about the world around us. We want to continue to teach even when the going gets tough because we have the passion to want to continually add to our students' knowledge and to improve their skills so that they can go on to be lifelong learners.

Even with the stress that is part of teaching, we still have that passion to teach. We see teaching as a two-way relationship, and we enjoy students as well reaping personal reward and the satisfaction of meeting a challenge head-on.

I have been thinking if teaching is a call?

If it is a calling ,we have to answer the call.
